11.1 Fundamentals
Overview
Once a contour has been programmed, you can position it on the
workpiece at various locations and in different sizes through the
use of coordinate transformations. The TNC provides the following
coordinate transformation cycles:
Cycle Soft key Page
7 DATUM
For shifting contours directly within
the program or from datum tables
259
247 DATUM SETTING
Datum setting during program run
265
8 MIRRORING
Mirroring contours
266
10 ROTATION
Rotating contours in the working
plane
268
11 SCALING FACTOR
Increasing or reducing the size of
contours
270
26 AXIS-SPECIFIC SCALING
Increasing or reducing the size of
contours with axis-specific scaling

in tilted coordinate system on
machines with swivel heads and/or
rotary tables

Effect of coordinate transformations
Beginning of effect: A coordinate transformation becomes effective
as soon as it is defined—it is not called separately. It remains in
effect until it is changed or canceled.
To cancel coordinate transformations:
Define cycles for basic behavior with a new value, such as
scaling factor 1.0
Execute a miscellaneous function M2, M30, or an END PGM
block (depending on machine parameter clearMode).
